The Connecting Link is a ministry outreach program of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods which began in 1997. Our goal is to bring together organizations (churches, schools, businesses, etc.) to address larger community issues by collaborating to create a more just and hope-filled society through prayer, information, referral and advocacy for families and individuals in need.

Our ministry provides for these families or individuals information and referrals to and from other not-for-profit organizations, as well as advocacy within the civic community, to address pressing needs related to social services, all free of charge. We also help clients obtain agency referrals for unemployment benefits, disability benefits, Social Security benefits, legal assistance/low income and home ownership/low income. In addition, The Connecting Link assists with utility bills for those families in need in the West Terre Haute area with the support of the West Terre Haute Minister's Association and Helping Hands supply. The Connecting Link acts as the LINK that connects the individual to a direct service agency and a direct service agency to the individual.

We serve those individuals and families living in West Terre Haute and the surrounding areas. If you live in the West Terre Haute area and would like assistance with any of these issues, we can help:

  • Abuse counseling, substance abuse

  • Adult basic education, budget planning, GED

  • Clothes, food and meal preparation, toys and other needs

  • Dental care, health care, mental health, women’s health

  • Employment, day care (child & adult), transportation, utility bills

  • Emergency housing, furniture, household items

  • Senior citizen issues

  • Spiritual guidance

Since opening in 1997, The Connecting Link has assisted thousands of individuals in need of food, money, furniture, clothing or basic services. Now, The Connecting Link is looking towards doing even more for the community by collaborating with other organizations to raise money to build a much needed clinic/pharmacy in downtown West Terre Haute. You can help us meet a one-for-one matching grant of up to $100,000 by donating to The Connecting Link. Indicate WTH clinic/pharmacy on the memo line of your donation.

Community outreach programs like The Connecting Link are essential for addressing the complex needs of families and individuals in today’s world. By fostering collaboration among various organizations, they provide valuable resources and hope to those in challenging situations. For elderly individuals and their families navigating sensitive moments, such as the End of Life Stages Timeline, it’s worth exploring services that offer compassionate care and support. Combining practical aid with spiritual and emotional guidance truly makes a positive impact on the lives of seniors
