Markle Mill Park consists of 8 acres. Markle Mill is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Only the dam and remnants of the 1816 Markle grist-sawmill foundation remain. According to history buffs, the mill was the longest operating gristmill east of the Mississippi River. The park has basically been left in its natural state. The waterfall over the dam, the sound of the flowing water, and other aesthetic qualities of the park attract fishermen and history buffs. A gazebo with tables and benches gives visitors a place to sit and relax while visiting the park.
